We celebrate the past and how reflects now the future. This year we have a lot to celebrate in Brazil as we are reinforcing our democratic institutions and strengthening and deepening our relations with the whole of international community.so, it is a very important moment of my country and also, we are renewing our historical commitment to promote peace and security at this very challenging moment of our history. At the same time, we are revitalizing our determination to protect the environment, to defend human rights and to promote economic and social inclusion. I am so privilege to celebrate with you our National Day with the launching of the Portuguese translation of the diaries of the trip of Tzar Ferdinand to Brazil in 1927. This is a project is very deep to my heart since I`ve arrived in Bulgaria. It`s because as you all know and is because His late Majesty was an outstanding botanist who have a great interest on the flora and the fauna of my country. This book is a tribute to His majesty Tzar Ferdinand for his pioneer work in the protection of the environment. And I am sure that this book now translated to Portuguese will be very important to make more Brazilians to know about of the outstanding work of Tzar Ferdinand.
History
The 7th of September is Brazil’s Independence Day, or, as they say in Brazil, Sete de Setembro! Dom Pedro, son of the Portuguese king Dom Joo VI, was authorized to reign in the event of the king’s death or return to Portugal. Dom Pedro assumed control upon his father’s return to Portugal in 1821, eventually declaring his allegiance to Brazil. The official proclamation of Brazilian independence occurred on September 22, 1822, although Independence Day is now observed on September 7.
